Max Stokey’s next pole vault victory will have to come in a courtroom, not on a track.

The Hoover High School freshman, who is ranked fourth in Stark County in the event with a vault of 12 feet, 6 inches, has been “restricted from participating” in the school’s pole vault program and from using any of the district’s pole vault equipment or facilities by North Canton Superintendent Jeff Wendorf. His family filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday morning, seeking a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to allow Stokey to pole vault again for Hoover.
