Former Watauga High athlete and assistant track coach Daniel Isaacs and the Sacramento State University pole vaulting squad were featured on the cover of VAULTER
Magazine.
VAULTER Magazine consists of a group of pole vaulting enthusiasts who have come together to bring the pole vault community its very own sport specific magazine.
Lizzy Norvell, Daniel Isaacs, Molly Rose Pearlman, Ryan Pust, Siobhan Anderson, Anna Jensen, Steven Pust, David Bean, Danielle Brandon,Kyle Fraley, Miranda Dumas and Hayley Carbullido are featured on the cover of the February issue.
Isaacs, who graduated from WHS in 1997, has been coaching for 15 years, 11 of those at WHS. He’s been at Sacramento State the last three years, a Division I school in Sacramento, CA., and a member of the Big SkY Conference.
He has been named to the National Pole Vault Summit Coaching Staff in Reno, NV., and he hosted in 2014 and will host in 2015 a pole vault camp at Sacramento State featuring 2000 Olympic Gold medalist Stacy Dragila.
Isaacs has coached NCAA qualifier as well as the second highest jump in school history in Blair Wallingford (17-foot.5-inches); five of the top ten women vaulters all time at Sacramento State in indoor track and four in the outdoor season; six of the top ten vaulters all time at Sacramento State during the indoor season and three in the outdoor season; currently Isaacs is coaching post collegiate vaulters Lizzy Norvell 13’10” and Theresa Raub (Rob) 13’6″.
During his 11-year stay at Watauga, Isaacs produced six state pole vaulting champions; three state record holders in the pole vault; more than 50 state meet qualifiers; 15 state meet medalists; multiple state meet scorers; multiple regional champions and conference champions.
“Our pole vaulters at Sacramento State we’re asked to be featured on the cover of VAULTER Magazine for the month of February. We did a photo shoot on the California capitol steps for the cover shot. The magazine is out of San Diego and is a publication dedicated to all things pole vault. Other notable schools to do a cover are Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Washington, California-Berkeley and UCLA to name a few.”
Isaacs is in Minneapolis, MN., this weekend for the Jack Johnson Invitational.
