Monaco – With just two days to go to the Samsung Diamond League Herculis meeting in Monaco, Pole Vault World record holder Yelena Isinbayeva was the much awaited guest star of the IAAF/Nestlé Kids’ Athletics organised on the harbour of the Principality in conjunction with the Local Organisers of the Herculis meet.

Divided into four teams, youngsters took part in running, jumping and throwing working stations under the close scrutiny of the woman who will aim at defending her Olympic title in less than a fortnight.

Supported by Nestlé Healthy Kids, the Kids’ Athletics Programme aims to ensure a steady and sustainable policy of development of the sport of Athletics. The aim of which is to introduce Children to Athletics at a basic level.

The programme is not intended only for clubs and Member Federations but also for schools and all institutions who are interested in the well-being of children.

In 2012 alone, the aim of the IAAF & Nestlé is to ensure that no fewer than 580 lecturers be trained and formed. These lecturers will then implement the IAAF/Nestlé Kids’ Athetics Programme to an average 300 children each for a total estimated reach of 21,600 children all over the world.

So far and in only four months 70% of the targeted courses have already been achieved.
