Fighting back tears, Olympic pole vaulter and Riga resident Jenn Suhr spoke Tuesday, for the first time, after getting sick and failing to medal in Rio.
She said the Olympic experience, and the last month really, has been a very trying time for her. Especially because she didn’t know what actually made her so sick.
“Everything rides on this, it’s not that I’m out there and I lost a game, this is my life, this is what I do and this is how I make a living,” said Suhr. “It’s like going into work and being fired. I didn’t lose a sporting event, this is my entire career.”
For the first time since finishing seventh in the Rio Olympics Jenn Suhr spoke about the illness that sank her chances of defending her gold medal in the pole vault.
