Recent Polk County graduate Jake Justice completed his high school track and field career on Friday with a second-place showing in the pole vault at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor meet in Greensboro.
Competing on the same track in Aggie Stadium where he won two state 1A outdoor titles, Justice cleared 15-1 1-2 to share second place with five other vaulters in the Emerging Elite classification.
The 15-1 1/2 bettered his previous personal best vault by a half-inch.
Colton Emeott of Kentwood, Mich. won the competition with a vault of 15-7 1/4.
Justice signed a letter-of-intent earlier this year to join the track and field program at East Carolina. He won four indoor and outdoor pole vault state championships while at Polk County.
