I wrote about Justin Northwest pole vaulter Desiree Freier earlier this month after she broke the national high school indoor record. She spoke confidently about her chance to break the outdoor record before the summer, so I’m not surprised she did it Saturday at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
“It’s pretty exciting. My goal was to come out here and break the national record,” Freier said in theDMN coverage of the Relays. “I was very fortunate to do it. This is one of my favorite places to jump. The crowd is amazing here. They’re always cheering you on, and it’s a blast.”
Freier is only 5-feet tall, but she has amazing ability as a vaulter. She might break the record again at the UIL state meet in May.
