WILLARD, Mo. – Pittsburg High School senior Joel Kafka set a new school record in the pole vault on Thursday, clearing 14 feet at the Jason Pyrah Invitational in Willard, Missouri.

Kafka finished 2nd in the event on Thursday to Carl Junction’s Harrison Huhn. Huhn cleared the same height, but the tiebreaker came down to previous jumps. 

Kafka is committed to continue his track and field career in college at Pittsburg State University, where he will do multi events for the Gorillas.
