CHARLESTON – Kyle Kruthoff was on the brink of heading home Thursday afternoon bitterly disappointed.
By Saturday afternoon, the Erie-Prophetstown junior was grinning ear to ear.
The favorite in the Class 1A pole vault, Kruthoff lived up to that billing by taking top honors at the IHSA Boys State Track & Field Meet on the campus of Eastern Illinois University.
