Lafayette High reloads for LHSAA State Indoor Meet

BATON ROUGE — Lafayette High’s Lady Lions don’t have the numbers they’ve had in the past, so their ambition is a bit tempered entering Saturday’s LHSAA State Indoor Meet at LSU.

But don’t count the Lions out without giving new faces a chance to excel.

“The season has been really rough,” coach Ron Baillargeon said. “We lost a lot of people, and we’re still very young. We’ve put them through the mill, and we’re a little banged up.”

In the field, Johanna Duplantis looks to continue her family tradition of title winners in the pole vault (brothers Andreas and Mondo) as Division I’s top qualifier at 11-5.75. She has a 12-foot clearance in an out-of-state showcase meet.
