JUNEAU — Draw a line down the middle of Dodgeland pole vaulter Dalton Klentz and the two sides tell a very different story.
On his left is a Greek god — someone in peak form and the envy of many of his peers. But on his right are a number of body parts that have been beaten down and put back together again.
Injuries to his right hip, knee and shoulder could easily have been enough to end the senior’s prep sports career, but instead, he’s headed to the WIAA state track and field championships this weekend in La Crosse as one of the favorites to win the Division 3 boys pole vaulting title.
