Lenzey Stidham wins NAIA Pole Vault title

GENEVA, Ohio — Lenzey Stidham (Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow) won the national championship in the women’s pole vault while weight thrower Kasey Renshaw (Litchfield, Mich./Litchfield) also earned All-America status for the Siena Heights women’s track and field team on day two of the NAIA Indoor Championships at the SPIRE Institute this past weekend.

Stidham cleared 12 feet, 11 1/2 inches (3.95 meters) and then survived a jump off against Oklahoma Baptist’s Evan Shimanek for the crown. The title is Stidham’s second in the NAIA; she won the 2012 Outdoor Championships pole vault, also.

SHU’s Elaine Johnson (Gregory, Mich./Chelsea) also competed in the vault, tying for 11th with a 10-11 3/4 (3.35m).

Renshaw added a sixth-place performance in the weight throw, finishing with a distance of 57-0 (17.37m). She was followed by teammate Brianna Nordby (Onsted, Mich./Onsted), who took ninth with a 53-9 (16.38m).
