British record holder for the Pole Vault, Steve Lewis, looks ahead to the trials in Birmingham this weekend knowing he has already posted two indoor A standards and an outdoor B standard.

‘I am looking forward to going back to Birmingham to compete.’ Said Lewis, who is fresh from his two Diamond League meets in Lausanne and Paris.

‘I have started to get into my rhythm again and feeling good about the meet. I got an equal seasons best at the last meet so confidence is high.’

Lewis, who is back in Europe for the summer, over from his training base in Phoenix, Arizona, also reflected on the British crowd.

‘We always get a great reception, the crowd have been fantastic with me. I have both Birmingham and London in England over the space of a couple of weeks. The atmosphere at the Olympics was incredible, there is a real buzz around track and field in Britain at the moment.’

Lewis is in action at 2.05pm on Saturday at the Birmingham Alexander Stadium.
