LHSAA grants waiver, allowing pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis to compete in elite division at Texas Relays

The LHSAA announced it has issued a one-time waiver that will allow Lafayette High pole vaulter Armand “Mondo” Duplantis to compete in the elite division of the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Saturday.

A one-sentence statement released by the LHSAA just after 10 a.m. also ended a controversy that has been brewing for weeks surrounding the LSU signee.

Along the way, Duplantis, a senior and the world junior record-holder, received an outpouring of support from the track & field community across the world, including past Olympians. The hashtag #freemondo has been trending on various social media platforms.
