COLUMBUS — Lindsey Michie woke up to a text message one morning that delivered the news every track athlete dreams of hearing.
The news handed to the Northern Burlington senior was qualification into the Penn Relays pole vault competition.
“I woke up and looked at my phone. One of my friends who graduated last year congratulated me on getting into Penn,” Michie said. “I didn’t even know yet! So I went online to Penn’s website and found out. Later in school, coach (Gene) Graf told me, confirming it.”
Michie’s journey to Penn is one of the most unconventional stories you’ll hear leading up to the competition, which takes place from April 25-27.
