Luke Cutts aims to vault to the top at indoor championship

Having set a British record of 5.83m, the Sheffield pole vaulter has set his sights on a place at Sopot in March

A little over a year ago, Luke Cutts was fitting his training around a ten-hour overnight shift loading lorries at a distribution centre. Now, the pole vaulter could be one of the lesser-known names to fill the void caused by some high-profile absentees in the Great Britain team this year.

With the World Indoor Championships next month, plus the Commonwealth Games and European Championships to follow this summer, British Athletics may have to look for medals without the help of Jessica Ennis-Hill, Christine Ohuruogu and Mo Farah.
