Lincoln Lutheran’s Josie Puelz might be a part-time pole vaulter, but the senior is going with an all-out, full-time effort in pursuit of the Nebraska girls pole vault state record this track and field season.

Puelz is a three-sport athlete who balances volleyball and basketball with a track slate that also includes both hurdle events and the 400 relay. That athleticism helped her clear 12 feet, 8 inches (tied for third on the all-time charts) at the Archbishop Bergan Invitational early last May and go 12-2 a couple of weeks later to win the Class C state title.
