CASTALIA — The competition to see which Stimmel sister can go highest in the pole vault already was at the heights of a raging firestorm well before last week’s Sandusky Bay Conference championships.
Now, after younger sister Kenna Stimmel broke older sister Kassidie Stimmel’s latest school and league records, it’s reached an inferno.
Kenna, a Margaretta High School freshman, had a top jump of 12 feet, 10 inches at the SBC meet in Gibsonburg last Friday to win the Bay Division championship, and in the process set a new national mark this season for high school freshman girls, according to MileSplit.
Kassidie held the old Polar Bears mark of 12-9 — set at last year’s Vermilion Invitational — as well as the SBC mark of 11-11.5. Kenna obliterated that record, just as she has with many of Kassidie’s top marks while climbing up the ranks.
