Morris Receives Academic All-American First Team Honors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas senior Sandi Morris has been named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-America first team announced on Thursday.

A four-time USTFCCCA first team All-American, the broadcast journalism major graduated summa cum laude with a 3.925 grade-point average (GPA).

Morris assisted in the Razorbacks earning their first NCAA title, vaulting 4.60m/15-1 to a first-place finish in the pole vault at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships. In recognition of her efforts in the classroom and on the runway, Morris was named the SEC Co-Field and Scholar Athlete of the Year.

One of just five women to clear 15 feet, Morris vaulted into history breaking the NCAA record with a clearance of 4.72m/15-5.75 at the 2015 SEC Outdoor Championships. Most recently at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Morris claimed the runner-up title with a final clearance of 4.65m/15-3.

The Greenville S.C. native is only the second in program history to be selected as a Bowerman Award semifinalist, the top award for track and field. Morris will be competing on Sunday at the 2015 USATF Outdoor Championships. She enters the event with the third best clearance in the field.
