N.J.’s best boys pole vault clearance in 5 seasons highlights Somerset meet

Little by little the bar is going up for Bradley Jelmert.

Jelmert, the standout junior pole vaulter from Watchung Hills, cleared 15-7 3/4 at the Somerset County Championships on Tuesday at Hillsborough High, giving him the best outdoor clearance in the event since Union Catholic’s Andrew Ghizzone cleared 16-0 at NJSIAA Meet of Champions in 2014.

The 15-7 3/4 is a new personal best for Jelmert, who is leading the way for a strong year in the pole vault throughout the Garden State.

Although it was a personal best for Jelmert, it was just a slight improvement by his already-impressive standards.

This winter, Jelmert cleared 15-7 1/4, one of three vaults that he cleared at least 15-6.
