Twelve-year-old Natasha Corkerton-Purchas has become one of the highest ranking girls at pole vaulting in the UK.
Natasha is currently the joint first ranked U13 girls pole vaulter in the South East of England and the joint second highest ranking pole vaulter in the UK in the same category.
The Burgess Hill School for Girls’ pupil has only been pole vaulting for 18 months and already holds the U13 girls’ club record at Crawley Athletic Club after achieving a height clearance of 2.41m at the Jim Day Memorial Pole Vault competition in Sutton in September.
Natasha has qualified for the Southern region U15 indoor pole vaulting championships in January 2014, which will be held at Lee Valley, as well as the England Athletics U15 indoor championships in Sheffield in March 2014.
Natasha’s training consists of indoor pole vaulting every Saturday in Sutton between October to March, and outdoor training from Easter to the end of September at Lewes Athletic Club. Natasha has also been to a pole vault centre in Portugal this year to attend warm weather training.
