Rutgers junior Chloe Timberg won a national title in the pole vault and set a new meet record in the process during a historic moment for the track and field program at the NCAA Championships on Thursday in Eugene, Oregon.

Timberg cleared 15-5 1/2 (4.71 meters) to win the gold medal and become Rutgers’ first national champion in the sport since 1982 when Lori McCauley won the AIAW 400-yard crown during the indoor season.
