Back on Jan. 12 at the Ted Nelson Invitational at Texas A&M, Nastassja Campbell set a record in the pole vault.
Campbell, a 2018 New Caney High School alumna and state champion last year, vaulted 4.39 meters (14 feet, 4 ¾ inches). That mark was recognized this week by USA Track & Field as the American Junior (U-20) pole vault record.
Campbell, a freshman at Stephen F. Austin, was also recognized by the Southland Conference on Jan. 16 for her accomplishment at the meet. Campbell, along with teammate Kelsey Ramirez, were named Southland Conference Athletes of the Week.
