NICEVILLE — The last time Katie Lightfoot was mobbed like this, she was strolling to home plate after her grand slam lifted Niceville to a third straight district title.
It was the same day Lightfoot, then a junior, qualified for state in the pole vault.
“Ever since, I’ve been looking to top that day,” she said.
Nov. 14 should be counted as a contender, Niceville mayor Randall Wise and the Niceville City Council declaring it Katie Lightfoot Day after she was named the 2019 Okaloosa County Distinguished Young Woman.
