VERMILLION — It makes sense that you would be seen smiling all the time when you’re able to do things that only a select few in the world can do.
But there’s another reason Chris Nilsen smiles so much.
He’s having fun.
Life is certainly fun when you’re one of the world’s top pole vaulters and you’re still only 21 years old and doing things not many people have ever seen.
Nilsen, a junior at the University of South Dakota, doesn’t necessarily see himself as keeping things (success, national notoriety, etc.) in perspective so much as he just keeps life simple.
