Elliot Ruhl will appreciate the variety offered in the decathlon next year at Missouri Southern.
“I know it’s going to be challenging,” the Nixa senior said during his signing ceremony with the Lions. “The reason I chose to do the decathlon rather than an individual event is so I don’t get bored with training. It will be a hefty schedule and an adventure everyday to see what the coaches cook up. It will be probably 25-hour training weeks throughout college.”
Ruhl had figured prior to last year that he would probably extend his career as a pole-vaulter to the next level. But as a junior he began to enjoy success running the anchor leg on the Eagles’ 4 x 400 relay and it became his favorite event. He teamed with Blake Procell, Jared Breig and William Wheeler for a State berth.
