No. 15 T&F Leads After Day 1 of Cal/Nevada Champs

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Kelsy Hintz and Nicole Oudenaarden each won an individual event to give the No. 15 San Diego State track and field team the lead after the first day of the Cal/Nevada Championships Friday on the campus of UC San Diego in La Jolla, Calif.

After six of the 20 events, the Aztecs have 71 points, 45.50 points ahead of second-place Nevada (25.50). Long Beach State (22.50), UC Santa Barbara (21.50) and USC (17) round out the top five.

Hintz won the pole vault, beating 23 other entrants with a mark of 13 feet, 3 ½ inches (4.05 meters). Kristen Brown (12-07.50 (3.85m)) came in second, while Rebecca Turnbow and Karen Snapper both cleared 11-11.75 (3.65m) to finish fifth and sixth, respectively.
