November is here and by now you should be back to your five or six step training and learning all the necessary skills to be a proficient vaulter. With that comes some cool meets that have to do with traditions such as Thanksgiving and Christmas next month. At the Vaulter Facility we always have a thankful meet and at that meet we make sure and take the time to have the athletes write a note to the parents expressing their thankfulness. When the parents walk in, they get the handwritten note from their athlete. Always a great way to start off the day and a thankful meet.

On the cover we have a club out of Illinois named Rise Pole Vault. “Tim Winder taught his sons the three big rules about the pole vault:

1) If you run through, you get worse.

2) If you take a jump up but do not finish it, you stay the same.

3) If you finish your jump, no matter how ugly, you get a little bit better. “

What a great teaching experience and article to read from a set of club coaches with years of experience.

It is impressive to read these articles that Daniel Bush submits to us each month. This one is a Halloween themed article that flows with the last couple articles over the last few months. “Annie stole the show once again, her braided blonde pig tails bouncing behind her as she bounded down the runway. After nailing another big jump, the roaring applause of the crowd drew a satisfying smile from this emerging elite athlete.” Better and better each month as this true professional shows us how the writing world manages business and a pole vault family all in one.

We all have so much to be thankful for and Abby explains some of and one of the nicest gestures that one of her athletes handed her this time of the year. “It can make us forget just how blessed we are to be able to compete in this amazing sport called pole vaulting! When you stop and think about it for a minute you realize that you can do something that many people never will get to.” Being thankful is peaceful for the mind and soul. Thank you, Abby, very cool.

Next month we have the Naval Academy on the cover, and they always represent in a spectacular way. We will see you next month with some Christmas cheer.

January 2021 is finally here, and we are kicking it off by going to the 2021 EXPO Explosion in Belton, Texas. What a great way to start the year with six individual pole vault pits for the athletes to jump their hearts out. So many are thankful that the event is still going on after the Covid-19 year of 2020. This will be the largest indoor event of 2021 and will not disappoint. This event will be live-streamed via Vaulter Magazine and people from around the world will watch the event live. This is the first time that this event and other events like this have streamed live in the U.S. throughout a full day. Here is hoping for a great year of pole vault and much-needed freedom to vault.

On the cover of the magazine, we have a picture of Jenn Suhr taken by Crash Kamon. We want to continue our showcase of photographers that have an eye for the sport of pole vault and work tirelessly to bring the best images to life. “Dupont enjoys the challenge of a meet in which there is always something exciting going on.” This article is worth the read with experiences on and off the field. You will all enjoy this article from one of the top-notch photographers around the world.

Olympic coverage is far and few between and understanding how it will affect each of you is what Kreager has in mind. “Additionally, as vaccines for COVID-19 have become available, the IOC has encouraged the athletes who will be competing in next summer’s Games to get vaccinated.” Did you read what they stated about the Russian ban? Have a read and you will read the updated news.

February 2021 is coming quickly, and hopefully, we will start getting some word on what the pole vault event will start looking like for the high school and college levels. All we can do now is hope that the people in the positions of authority will make the right choice and open up our sport. The kids need to be active and given a chance to vault. Stay tuned and we will bring you more details on these decisions.
