November is here and by now you should be back to your five or six step training and learning all the necessary skills to be a proficient vaulter. With that comes some cool meets that have to do with traditions such as Thanksgiving and Christmas next month. At the Vaulter Facility we always have a thankful meet and at that meet we make sure and take the time to have the athletes write a note to the parents expressing their thankfulness. When the parents walk in, they get the handwritten note from their athlete. Always a great way to start off the day and a thankful meet.

On the cover we have a club out of Illinois named Rise Pole Vault. “Tim Winder taught his sons the three big rules about the pole vault:

1) If you run through, you get worse.

2) If you take a jump up but do not finish it, you stay the same.

3) If you finish your jump, no matter how ugly, you get a little bit better. “

What a great teaching experience and article to read from a set of club coaches with years of experience.

It is impressive to read these articles that Daniel Bush submits to us each month. This one is a Halloween themed article that flows with the last couple articles over the last few months. “Annie stole the show once again, her braided blonde pig tails bouncing behind her as she bounded down the runway. After nailing another big jump, the roaring applause of the crowd drew a satisfying smile from this emerging elite athlete.” Better and better each month as this true professional shows us how the writing world manages business and a pole vault family all in one.

We all have so much to be thankful for and Abby explains some of and one of the nicest gestures that one of her athletes handed her this time of the year. “It can make us forget just how blessed we are to be able to compete in this amazing sport called pole vaulting! When you stop and think about it for a minute you realize that you can do something that many people never will get to.” Being thankful is peaceful for the mind and soul. Thank you, Abby, very cool.

Next month we have the Naval Academy on the cover, and they always represent in a spectacular way. We will see you next month with some Christmas cheer.

Working out in preparation for the rest of the indoor season. Some of your multisport athletes will be playing football, cheer, and other events. Soon they will be wrapped up and your team will all be together for the winter months. The meets are already starting to be listed so you can start planning your travel for the season. We hope to see you at the 2021 EXPO Explosion in Belton, Texas on New Years Day. If not, we will have it all live-streamed for you.

On the cover, we have the famed coach Brian Elmore for the hard-working, hard-charging coach of the month. A wealth of knowledge and positivity surrounds this coach and we’re thankful to have him on the cover. “A Texas man through and through, Elmore has been pouring into the vault community for years.” Great read and plenty of rodeo references in the article.Good job Sara.

The Master’s Symposium was held at the Vaulter Magazine Facility this year and the event was a hoot of a time. Bubba came from Texas for his event and didn’t jump, but had a good time nonetheless. “The Master's guys came from as far away as New Jersey, Kentucky, Minnesota, Texas, etc., plus the local SoCal guys.Seeing everyone together is like a high school reunion even if you have never met the person before.” We also have an interview on our YouTube Chanel with Bubba and Jan Johnson.

We are thankful and this year we give thanks to the coaches. They put up with and put the time in the event that they love. Many times no one sees the effort that is put forth to get the athlete up and over the bar. Keep it up coaches and keep getting those kids to the next level. Happy Thanksgiving to you all and we will see you next month!
