November is here and by now you should be back to your five or six step training and learning all the necessary skills to be a proficient vaulter. With that comes some cool meets that have to do with traditions such as Thanksgiving and Christmas next month. At the Vaulter Facility we always have a thankful meet and at that meet we make sure and take the time to have the athletes write a note to the parents expressing their thankfulness. When the parents walk in, they get the handwritten note from their athlete. Always a great way to start off the day and a thankful meet.
On the cover we have a club out of Illinois named Rise Pole Vault. “Tim Winder taught his sons the three big rules about the pole vault:
1) If you run through, you get worse.
2) If you take a jump up but do not finish it, you stay the same.
3) If you finish your jump, no matter how ugly, you get a little bit better. “
What a great teaching experience and article to read from a set of club coaches with years of experience.
It is impressive to read these articles that Daniel Bush submits to us each month. This one is a Halloween themed article that flows with the last couple articles over the last few months. “Annie stole the show once again, her braided blonde pig tails bouncing behind her as she bounded down the runway. After nailing another big jump, the roaring applause of the crowd drew a satisfying smile from this emerging elite athlete.” Better and better each month as this true professional shows us how the writing world manages business and a pole vault family all in one.
We all have so much to be thankful for and Abby explains some of and one of the nicest gestures that one of her athletes handed her this time of the year. “It can make us forget just how blessed we are to be able to compete in this amazing sport called pole vaulting! When you stop and think about it for a minute you realize that you can do something that many people never will get to.” Being thankful is peaceful for the mind and soul. Thank you, Abby, very cool.
Next month we have the Naval Academy on the cover, and they always represent in a spectacular way. We will see you next month with some Christmas cheer.
You found a cool spot and now that you found it, now what? Well since you found this spot, shoot us a note and let us know and we will showcase you and your pole vaulting!
