CORTLAND, N.Y. – Oswego State pole vaulter Brittany DalCais (Hewitt, N.J.), a sophomore on the women’s indoor track and field team has been named the SUNY Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 27, 2013.
DalCais was selected after her record-setting performance at the Hamilton Invitational on Saturday. She won the pole vault with an ECAC-qualifying height of 11 feet, 7 3/4 inches (3.55m), clearing the record height on her first attempt and beating her closest opponent by nearly three feet, while also ousting five of the male competitors. The mark also broke the school record she established last year by two inches. DalCais’ result is currently tied for the ninth-best mark in Division III and leads the SUNYAC list by almost ten inches in her second competition of the season.
The indoor track and field team will compete again on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Ithaca Invitational.
