Bradford High turned in a dominating performance, easing to a 124-26 track and field win over St. Marys on Wednesday at Parkway Field.

Max Paterniti (1600, 800, 3200 relay), Tyler Nuzzo (3200 relay, 1600 relay, 400), Mitch Vleminckx (long jump, 200, 1600 relay) and Alex Colosimo (110 high hurdles, 300 intermediate hurdles, 1600 relay) each tripled to lead the Owls (1-0).

In addition, John Eakin (high jump, 100), freshman Vinnie Bizzarro (3200 relay, 1600 relay) and freshman Isaac Paterniti (3200 relay, 3200) doubled.

“We had four triple winners and three double winners,” BAHS coach Tom Tessena said. “We had a host of personal bests. We also had 46 boys participate, mostly in three or four events so everyone got a chance.”

Single winners for the Owls were Andy Pantuso (triple jump), Ryan Whittemore (javelin) and Jacob Soto (pole vault).

Personal bests were turned in by Eakin (100M -11.0), Andy Pantuso (triple jump – 39’11 ¾’’, javelin 139’), Donny Pattison (100m -11.6 , 200M – 25.1), Tyler Nuzzo (200M – 24.7), Matt O’Brien and Cade Hayden (1600M 5:18, 5:20), Nate Blauser (high hurdles – 18.2, intermediate hurdles – 46.4, triple jump – 36’6″), Jaron Ambrose (high hurdles – 18.1, intermediate hurdles – 45.4, triple jump – 36’6″), Jack Kellam (pole vault – 11’6’’, javelin 127’5’’), Jeremy Fitton (pole vault – 11’6’’), Tony Furman (discus – 100’1’’), Matt Stafford (100M – 12.1) and Isaac Paterniti (3200M – 11:29).

“I know I missed a few (personal bests) but it was a very good day for us,” Tessena added.

“The star of the meet was Tom Bojalad of St. Marys who thrilled the spectators with a great effort in the shot put of 55’10’’ and a discus throw of 168’4’’.

“Our throwers got to see one of the best in the whole state,” the Owls coach pointed out.

Tessena said the team is making progress.

“We have a lot of areas to work on but we are making progress,” the coach stated. “Our 4×100 relay team was disqualified on the first exchange but still ran an impressive time of 45.1. If we can get those handoffs down we have a good shot at the school record (44.04)

“Our javelin throwers, hurdlers, pole vaulters, triple jumpers, 200M runners and 1600 and 3200 men all recorded sweeps.

“We have some areas we must improve in but this was a step in the right direction.”
