Paige Sommers sets national record in pole vault (MSN Sports)

© JUAN CARLO/THE STAR Westlake High sophomore Paige Sommers broke her Ventura County record four times, defended her Marmonte League championship, won the CIF-SS Division 2 and Masters titles and finished second in the state in the pole vault.

Westlake High’s Paige Sommers set a U.S. high school national outdoor record in the pole vault by clearing 14 feet, 8.5 inches at a Vaulter Magazine meet in Sun City on Saturday. Sommers bested Leah Pasqualetti’s 14-8.25, set in 2020. The indoor record is 14-9.
