GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clayton Parros and Cameron Overstreet will represent the University of North Carolina track and field team at the NCAA National Championships, held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore., after qualifying at the East Preliminary on Friday evening.

After running a collegiate best 45.73 to move on to the quarterfinal on Thursday, Parros punched his ticket to the NCAA National Championships in the men’s 400 as he won his heat and finished third overall in 46.60. This marks the fourth consecutive national championship semifinal Parros has advanced to in his career. He won All-America honors in the 400 as a freshman in 2010.

Overstreet earned her first NCAA National Championships berth as she placed 12th in the women’s pole vault. She advanced in a jump-off at the 13-1 ½ (4.00 meters) height.
