STATEN ISLAND – The Ramsey, Wayne Valley and Northern Valley girls and the Fort Lee, Lakeland and River Dell scored team wins on the second day of the Big North indoor track and field championships Wednesday, but as he has all winter, Pascack Hills’ Liam Landau stole the show.
The Northeastern-bound Landau won four events, all with indoor personal bests in the American meet, the last a Bergen County record-setting and New Jersey state-leading 15-9 in the pole vault, the highest any North Jersey vaulter has ever cleared, indoors or outdoors.
“He’s one of the most impressive high school athletes I’ve ever seen,” said Fort Lee coach Dan Cirone. “He’s also an impressive gentleman and sportsman with all the athletes.”
