Sad news from back home in Sweden: PV trainer Pekka Dahlhöjd has died at 57.
Pekka’s talented pole vault protégées included Alhaji Jeng, Patrik Klüft and current national-record holder Oscar Jansson. Pekka had a precocious yearling named Christian Olsson under his tutelage as well as head trainer at Ögryte in Göteborg.
Pekka’s influences are wide-spread, and his knowledge has progressed what is known about vaulting to sensational heights. He is a man who will be sorely missed.
