WHEN: Saturday at 10 a.m.

THE FIELD: New Jersey will have four boys in the field of 19 vaulters. They are listed below in alphabetical order, followed by their school, grade and personal best.

• Jarrod Brovero, Delsea, Senior, 14-6
• Greg Fuerte, Paramus, Junior, 14-0
Kyle Loveland, Moorestown, Senior, 14-6
• Jake Smith, West Essex, Senior, 14-0

JERSEY OUTLOOK: Last season, four competitors cleared 15 feet and that’s pretty consistent statistic when it comes to the vault at Franklin Field. Loveland and Brovero both cleared 14-6 at the Meet of Champions this winter and could be in the mix with tricky conditions expected for Saturday.

OF NOTENew Jersey hasn’t won the pole vault at the Penn Relays since Andy Brethorst of Morris Knolls cleared 15-1 to finish first in 1990. When Bill Hartley of Southern won in 1976 he became the first vaulter in meet history to clear 16-0. Hartley’s 16-0 stood as the meet record until 1991.
