Saint Mary’s Hall junior Shay Petty won a silver medal in the pole vault at the New Balance Indoor High School National Track and Field Meet in New York City on Saturday, clearing a height of 13 feet, 4½ inches in the pole vault. Petty was competing in last week’s meet unattached.
The Greater San Antonio high school record is 13-1½, set by New Braunfels’ Demi Payne in 2010. Payne’s mark remains the record because it was contested outdoors and she was competing with her high school team.
