The Indiana State Fair pole vault meet is once again happening on August 10, 2013. This year the meet has grown again to display 90 vaulters. The State Fair vault is a wonderful opportunity to see the State’s best Jr. and Sr. high school, college and masters vaulters. The meet will begin at 9AM with the women’s competition. This group will include master’s champions Karen Reiger and Brenda Babits as well as high school vaulters from the last indoor and outdoor State Championships. http://polevaultmeets.com/
The next group will be the elite vaulters immediately following the women. This group also includes master’s champions Gary Hunter and Paul Babits. In addition, three high flyers you need to see to believe. The crowd will be amazed at the heights these people can clear.
The final group will be the men’s competition. This group will include master’s vaulters Kenny Droellinger, John Sipe and Dick Kochert. These people defy the term “getting older the rest of the group is made up of the State’s finest up and coming vaulters. Some of these men have many wonderful years in front of them.
The pole vault pit that we use from Richey Athletics is a one of a kind. The cover has the American flag on one side and can be flipped to display the Indiana State flag on the other. We will use both sides throughout the competition for a sight for all involved to behold. We are also lucky to have UCS Spirit work with us again this year.
As well, we will be supporting the Wounded Warrior Project again this year. Last year the vaulters involved worked and donated which allowed us to make an $1,100 donation to the WWP. The many people involved from the athletes to the families are truly the heart of pole vaulting in Indiana.
