Yelena Isinbayeva, a double Olympic pole vault gold medallist will join seven athletes who triumphed at last summer’s London Games at the Shanghai Diamond League meet on Saturday.

Isinbayeva, whose unbeatable form had lapsed since her 2008 success in Beijing and who was chasing a third successive victory, had to settle for the bronze medal in London in a competition won by the USA’s Jenn Suhr.
But the 30-year-old Russian who has posted 28 world records, indoors and outdoors, and was the first woman to clear over five metres, remains a legendary track and field name, particularly in China where crowds flock to watch her in action.
At the second Diamond League meeting of the season, Isinbayeva will face fellow Russian and former world champion Svetlana Feofanova and Angelica Bengtsson of Sweden, the world junior gold medallist.
An exceptionally strong start list which boasts three world record holders and a total of 26 current Olympic medallists will see many rematches of titanic clashes which took place in London last August.
