Outside in 90 degree heat, surrounded by loud animals and hundreds of people is what most people expect on a Saturday morning in July at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens.
Giant poles and people trying to jump over a bar? Not exactly a normal day for the zoo, or for any zoo for that matter.
The Jacksonville Athletic Club hosted what they believed to be the world’s first pole vault inside a zoo.
While participants didn’t jump over any animals, they did jump over zebra-print poles and small hanging plush monkeys.
