Pole Vaulter Breaks School Record

Junior Kalei Hunt broke Jackson High School’s pole vaulting record at the track meet against Okemos and Lansing Everett on April 16, 2013. The previous record was set by Amber Bundy in 2011 and the record was 7’6. Hunt now holds the new record at 8’.

Hunt’s own personal best 7’6 before the new record was made. She has been pole vaulting since her freshman year and has a new goal of making it to states by her senior year.  She started pole vaulting because it looked fun and the pole vaulting coach personally approached her on the subject. She plans on continuing track in college if she meets her expectations.
