RENO, Nev. – Junior Caitlin Maulin cleared a height of 3.80m in the women’s pole vault at the Reno Pole Vault Summit. She finished sixth in the first women’s group. Rebecca Clark, also competing that group, finished 10th with a height of 3.60m. Both Maulin and Clark qualified for last year’s NCAA Regional Championships for the pole vault. Maulin currently ranks third in the conference with her height of 3.70m from the Snake River Open.
In the second women’s group, Gioia Ibrahim placed 11th, clearing a height of 3.30m. Freshman Samantha Simmons won the third group with a height of 3.50m. She ranks fourth in the conference with a height of 3.60m from the Snake River Open. Also from that group, Tiffany Smith placed fifth with 3.15m and Kaitlin Whitesitt placed 11th with 2.75m.
In the second men’s group, Steven Wacker placed second with a height of 4.75m and Andy Curry followed him in third with a height of 4.65m. Trent Acree finished fifth in the third group with a height of 4.00m and Garrison Grisaffi was ninth with 3.80m.
Idaho State track and field stays on the road for the Jackson’s Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 26. Events begin at 10:30 a.m.
