The second Athens Street Pole Vault competition has taken place.
The day began with an exhibition event for children who were taught how to use the pole.
Two world champions were welcomed to the unique competition – Germany’s Raphael Holzdeppe and localman Kostas Flippidis.
Holzdeppe didn’t manage to beat his personal record of 5.91m but the crowd were pleased with his 5.42m jump.
The indoor world champion, Kostas Filippidis, cleared 5.62m but was 2nd overall because he made the jump on his third attempt.
The Athens Street Pole Vault event debuted last year and is classified as a Special Premium Meeting of the European Athletics Federation.
