Frankfort resident Chad Weaver, a 17-year-old senior at Providence Catholic High School, is participating this weekend in the 2012 National Junior Olympics in Baltimore.

A lifelong runner and track enthusiast, Weaver specializes in pole vaulting. He is among a group of students ages 7-18 who participated in Olympic-style competition.

This is the 46th USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships and being held in Baltimore, MD. The USATF Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships is the most visible youth athletic development program in the world. Many of today’s Olympic stars have roots to the USATF and the junior olympic championships.

Participation in the championship is based on athlete performances at preliminary, Association, and Regional levels of the 2012 USATF Junior Olympic Program.
