Raak hoping to rise high Down Under

Southwest Christian/Edgerton track & field athlete Joshua Raak is down right now.

Down under to be exact.

The 2019 graduate is slated to visit a wildlife sanctuary, take a team photo and pose with a koala Wednesday in Australia before competing with team Lorikeets as a representative from Minnesota – one of two United States track & field teams participating at the 19th Annual International Games competition, July 12-14, sponsored by Down Under Sports.

Raak, the middle child of Philip and Theresa Raak, who works a diverse farm of 450 milk cows and 1,800 finishing hogs and runs 2,000 acres outside of Jasper with his parents and siblings Matthew (23), Andrew (21), Jacob (17) and Caleb (14), was initially invited to participate in the international sports showcase last fall. After answering the invitation letter, speaking with former SWC/E teammates about the program and digging deeper, Raak decided to give the 10-day excursion/competition a go.
