Rain drops, record falls at track home opener

After a slow start to the season, including a rainout of the locals’ first Delta League meet, Davis High track and field head coach Spencer Elliott was ready to get his full contingent of Blue Devils out for a real competition.

“We had a rain or shine mentality because we wanted to race so bad,” the veteran coach said. “I think we lucked out with the weather. It got a little crazy during some of the early races — we had a big downpour during the frosh/soph 4×100 — but it was fun.”
