Paige Sommers set the girls’ national high school pole vault record of 14′ 9″ on May 26, 2021. In this documentary, we take a look back at her start in vaulting (continuing a multi-generational tradition), the progression of her achievements, and the challenges posed by the COVID pandemic as she pursued the record through lockdowns and uncertain competition schedules. We will see how attitude/dedication, family support, and coaching lead to success.

We are grateful to Paige, the Sommers family, Anthony Curran, and Vaulter Magazine. Also, to Rich Gonzalez of PrepCalTrack, who conducted our interviews and provided invaluable insights. We look forward to following Paige as she continues her vaulting career at Duke University and beyond.
