Hunter Cook of Ripon, was able to overcome adversity and clear 14 feet, 8 inches at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., home of the Nike Outdoor Nationals Track and Field Meet. The meet was held July 2, the week following the Olympic Trials held at the same location.
Hunter made the trip and qualified along with four others from Wisconsin to compete in the pole vault. All are members of the Polebenders Vault Club out of Waukesha.
