Robbinsville High’s Hunter, Trenton High’s Clemes set track & field MOC marks

TOMS RIVER — Among the best in the state, two local indoor track athletes set meet records Saturday in the Meet of Champions.

Robbinsville’s Craig Hunter set a meet record twice, as he posted heights of 15 feet, 9 inches and 16 feet in the pole vault. The latter of those marks was a feat that Hunter publicly set his eyes on after last weekend’s Group II championship.

“I am all about setting goals because you can’t say that you’re happy where you are. If you say that than you’re never going to push yourself to that next level,” Hunter said. “When I said I wanted 16, I wasn’t settling for it. Sixteen was the minimum where I could walk out and feel relived because I’ve done it once (before) and hit 15-6 ever since.”
