ASHLAND, Ohio – The Slippery Rock University men’s track and field team recorded 17 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks and one NCAA provisional qualifying mark at the Ashland Alumni Open that concluded Saturday.
This weekend’s competition was the final tune-up before the PSAC Championships next weekend at Shippensburg.
Jordan Pacheco led the way with a win in the pole vault and an NCAA provisional clearance of 4.88 meters. He led three SRU vaulters to at least the PSAC standard in the event.Cody Colagrande placed second at 4.57 meters and Keiffer Reed was fourth at 4.42 meters.
The Rock’s throwers recorded eight of the 17 PSAC qualifying marks from the men’s team.
Billy Martin led four SRU throwers to a PSAC mark in the hammer throw with a 10th place finish and a toss of 50.68 meters. David Reinhardt was 14th at 49.99 meters, followed byNick Garuccio in 15th at 49.98 meters and Nick Turk in 19th at 47.45 meters.
Reinhardt was the highest placing Rock thrower with a fourth place finish in the discus with a throw of 46.96 meters. Garuccio also hit the PSAC standard to place 12th at 41.65 meters.
Trevor Miller finished 20th in the shot put with a throw of 14.52 meters and Reinhardt followed in 24th at 14.03 meters to round out the SRU throwers’ PSAC performances.
On the track, the 400-meter hurdlers recorded three PSAC qualifying marks to lead The Rock’s effort. Trevor Foley was third in 54.93 seconds to lead the way. Nathaniel Helfferichwas fourth at 55.17 seconds and Logan Mooney was sixth at 56.60 seconds.
Brandon Vanderbrook and Hans Lubich each recorded a PSAC qualifying time in the 100-meter dash. Vanderbrook was 10th in 11.17 seconds, while Lubich was 11th at 11.18 seconds.

The final PSAC mark of the day came from Ryan Thompson in the 1,500-meter run. He took second in 4:02.19.
The PSAC Championships are slated to begin Thursday morning and continue throughout the day Friday and Saturday at Shippensburg University.
